- Tell us about something about Tom Svensson?
I was born in Denmark and moved to Sweden in young age. Lives to today in a small fishing village on the west coast not fare from the Norwegian border. I work in a breeding center for endangered animals, we got everything from insects to tigers. started taking photos to touch peoples feelings, and to make a difference started taking photos to touch peoples feelings, and to make a difference. Conservation is very important for me and started taking photos to touch peoples feelings, and to make a difference. I started taking photos to touch people’s feelings, and to make a difference. So that’s why I started to travel around the world to take photos of rare animals and I have also written books about them. If I can with my photo make one person in the world wanting to make a difference then I have succeeded !
- What’s your creative process like?
Once I decided for an animal I want to document and everything around the trips is ready, then I think very much on what type of photos I really would like to get ! Like when I went to Africa for the white lions I had a photo in my head of a White male in profile in the sunset, and I was lucky to get it. I spend a lot of time looking at photos and thinking on photos I want to take but once you’re out there it is very much the moment that makes the photo.
- Where do you find inspiration and why you like photography?
I find it all over but very much by looking in the nature and spending time watching animals also by looking at other photographers photos. I love looking at others photos. There are so many really good photographers out there. But I get also very much inspiration true my work with conservation and how I can show people photos that will make them think.
- What are some tips you could give to people that really like your work?
To get good photo, I think you need to me much out in nature and take may photos ! And it doesn’t matter how talented you are, you still need to work hard to get these great photos.
Even a talented football player need to work really hard to become a great player. And it is the same for use photographers. I also find it very important to try to learn as much as you can on the animal you want to take photos of. Behavior of animals is very important to study and will help you very much to get a good photo. And try to take different types of photos, use all your lenses.
- If you have something else to add about your next project, just tell us.
I am off to Africa now with a workshop I am holding and after that I will go back to take photos off arctic foxes. My second book will be out in the autumn and is about lions and the white lions. I will hold a lot off lectures around, from Sweden to Austria. I have also just started a conservation project on the pink dolphins of Thailand and need to go back there in the near future. Next year I hope to travel back to Africa on a very special job and if that works out well I will write a new book about this very important and interesting subject, but will let everyone know more on FB or my website.
