Iwona Paczek - Fashion story teller photographer
Iwona Paczek is a professional advertising and fashion and photographer from France. Iwona's passion for photography and her unique editorial style capture the mood for today's fashion industry, while hers advertising photographs are featured regularly by international clients.
We had this great opportunity to have an exclusive interview with Iwona, and we are happy to share it with you.
Tell us about something about Iwona Paczek Photography?
Tell stories.
Fashion, advertising, beauty – I often have that idea of telling a story and “to take people to another universe. I also consider advertising as an art and not only as the ability to sell. I love fairy tales and the atmosphere of the beautiful and mysterious stories I was told as a little girl.
It’s also about playing with light and colors to create something dreamy and pure. It’s finally about finding perfection – my own perfection because the perfection doesn’t exist. Does it?
How did you get into Fashion & Beauty Photography?
Seeing my cousin paint extraordinary things (fantasy landscapes, mysterious creatures) and looking at pictures in the books (fairy tales) I wanted to do the same. (Un)fortunately, I could not paint. I wondered If I cannot paint, what else can I do to express myself? You can guess the end of the story…
Fashion is about inspiration. It gives you the possibility to express yourself in your own way and work with talented people like make-up Artists, stylists, designers...And it’s really the pleasure of working with them, especially when we all have the same artistic sensibility.
How do you keep yourself motivated and your photography creative, inspiring and fresh?
I find inspiration everywhere – books, magazines, streets. But mainly ideas emerged in my head. Meet new designers and work for them is inspiring. The idea of creating something special for a designer makes you more creative – You let your mind surfing in the ocean of Your ideas.
What is typically in your camera bag?
A magic wand!
Seriously, it depends on the project of course – it could be only my camera and one lens or all my stuff (softboxes, beauty dishes, reflectors…).
How has your shooting style and work ethic changed in time?
Well, I already know what I would never do and I stick to my personal opinions. For example, you will never see me shooting things I do not approve of, and I would never use a provocative style such as a porno-chic style.
What are some tips you could give to people that really like your work?
Find your style and think about what you like doing the most.
Can you name some photographers that inspires you with their works and why?
Well, I find my inspirations in stories and old paintings. When I started my adventure with photography, I was (and am still) very impressed by Luis Royo’s works and their atmosphere.
