Mario Moreno is an award winning wildlife and landscape photographer based in Western Cape, South Africa. Together with Marina Cano, Mario is leading true African Safari experiences, but for more details about this among an exclusive selection of gorgeous wildlife animals photographs, please check below.
Tell us about something about Mario Moreno Photography?
Mario Moreno Photography is a visual expression of emotions, feelings, moments and places that I experience on our planet and that I have a strong need to share with the rest of the world. Over the last 25 years I have approached this art from many angles Travel, Conceptual, Sport, Lifestyle, etc ... but it was 12 years ago that I really started focusing in Wildlife and Landscapes.
How did you get into Wildlife Photography?
It was in January 1999 that I really found out that Wildlife and Landscape photography was going to be my true passion. My first trip to Kenya and Tanzania was the starting point. I did an overland trip from Nairobi to Dar es Salam visiting Amboseli, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro and Serengeti. This trip captivated me completely and showed me who I wanted to be as a photographer.
What’s your creative process like?
I prefer to capture a more artistic side of wildlife and try to embrace the soul and spirit of the animals I photograph. I pay attention to out of the box compositions and processing techniques to try and make my work stand out from the usual wildlife photographs.
Where do you find inspiration and why you like photography?
Inspiration is everywhere around us and wherever you look you will see an image worth capturing. As I said, photography is a wonderful way of sharing your feelings and experiences with people and this is what I like about photography. I pursue the " Perfect Moment ", capture it and share it. This is my goal.
What are some tips you could give to people that really like your work?
You need to love nature, the outdoors, traveling, being away from home and PATIENCE. Patience is what really gets you those great shots. You cannot just chase the images you want .... You must understand your subject and the environment they live in and simply wait for that moment ..... the perfect Moment.
Can you name one great photographer that inspires you with his works and why?
There are many great photographers but if I have to choose one that inspires me, Nick Brandt has to be the one. He captures the beauty of every animal he photographs in a very unique way. Nick Brandt turns raw nature into Art in a very special way.
If you have something else to add just tell us.
I am currently working on a Photo Safari project that takes our photographer clients to wonderful places in Africa like the Timbavati in Kruger, Moremi in Botswana, Addo in the Eastern Cape and Serengeti in Tanzania. Marina Cano, a great friend and remarkable photographer has joined me on this project. Together we are making African Dreams come true for photographers in search of the " Perfect Moment " in Africa.
