Tell us about something about Audran Gosling Photography?
I have been creating pictures for a couple of years now. I say 'creating' because they are very rarely straight out of the camera, and involve alot of post production. I am very much at the beginning of the learning curve in all aspects of photography.
I have always loved photography. I had dabbled in the past (using film) but was never really happy with the results. A couple of years ago I lost my job so I found myself with plenty of time to indulge in my hobby, which was made easier as I had recently purchased a Nikon D40x. I loved the freedom that going Digital gave me and I havent looked back.
What’s your creative process like?
I take my camera everywhere and I take ALOT of pictures. Sometimes I will use the picture as it is and sometimes I will take elements from several different pictures to make a composite. Usually, at the time of taking, I have a good idea what the end result will look like after processing. I use variations of software including Photomatix and Photoshop, usually adding texture layers and colour filters etc to give a painterly feel.
Where do you find inspiration and why you like photography?
I am inspired by many things. I love the countryside and the coast and anything that has a nostalgic feel. I love the challenge of presenting a scene or an object in a new and interesting way. One of my reasons for loving photography (and art) is that you get to tell the story your own way.
My top tip is experiment with everything. For example - I will take 20-30 pictures of a scene or object with different angles, lighting, focus etc. When I get the pictures up on the computer I then decide which one to use and do 2 or 3 different edits. Only then do I decide which one to display.
Can you name one great photographer that inspires you with his works and why?
I am inspired by many artists and photographers. I spend alot of time looking at peoples work on photosharing websites and there are some incredibly talented people out there. I think the beauty of the digital age is that anyone can now display their work for the world to see.
